It's hard to believe that summer is actually over! Year three commenced today with annual Summer Conference PD (hosted at our school!). It's truly hard to believe that now I'll be considered an "experienced" teacher after merely 3 years. I can't help but feel, though, as if I were still a first-year, still experimenting and making mistakes. I want to say that I'm not entirely scared of making mistakes anymore because of all the PD I've gone to this past summer. I admit that I'm not entirely in control of my anxiety still...At least it's nice to see my colleagues after the summer and bask in the glory that we've conquered what seemed to be the impossible in the past 2 years. I'm also proud to say that it took 7 minutes for me to get to work this morning, instead of the typical 30-minutes I've been used to for the past 2 years. Hopefully, this will help me with maintaining work-life balance better this year.
In other news, as apparently nonexistent as my 20% Time food project appears, it actually is undergoing progress! Just yesterday, I spent my day at Grand Central Market and Little Tokyo. From my trip, I bought ingredients for soba noodles and tried them cold for the first time. Although I was apprehensive about it at first, it actually was quite tasty. I also tried my hand at poaching eggs. I'm not entirely sure if I did it right at first; note my deformed first try noted below (lol). But, I ended up trying the process out with 4 different eggs, using the handy infographic below, and each time, the egg was tasty. I've learned I prefer eggs that are only a tad bit runny (cooked for 10 minutes).
