...Only it is also the literal Sunday before my 3rd first day of school as a teacher begins. This article, however, reminded me of the hope and optimism I should hold for this new year. A quote that I absolutely loved and hope to use as my mantra for the first few days (maybe weeks, or even months before official ratings are published in December) goes as follows: "The key is not to dwell on what you’re losing in the new year, but to focus on what you’re gaining." I know it'll be hard, but I truly do feel that I'm coming in the year more prepared and excited. In spite of mistakes from last year, I think I've learned enough to really get it. Admittedly, I'm still incredibly anxious, but somehow, I was able to relax and enjoy my last day of summer and have all my first day material ready to go (or maybe, I was foolish enough to forget something). In any case, bring it on, 2015-2016! |
